Peripheral Neuropathy

This condition primarily affects diabetics, alcoholics, steroid users, chemotherapy patients, and people exposed to contaminants, but also often has no identifiable cause. The patient loses blood flow to nerve endings and the nerves start to degenerate. Symptoms include sharp pains, lost sensation, and worse balance. We treat it with laser therapy, seated and standing vibration therapy, home therapy, and nutrition.

When spinal discs get worn down, as with arthritis, they become susceptible to sciatica. This is when a disc herniation compresses the sciatic nerve which runs from the lower back down to each foot. Symptoms include burning pain, numbness, and tingling, often felt on one side of the leg or buttocks and worsened when sitting. We treat sciatica with a variety of methods including the Cox Technic, massage therapy, orthotics, and more.

Spinal Stenosis

This condition occurs when wear and tear associated with aging, arthritis, trauma, and bulging discs causes part of the spine to narrow, pinching the spinal cord and nerves and producing pain. We utilize the Cox Technic and massage therapy to treat stenosis.

Disc Problems

Spinal discs provide shock absorption for your spine. They keep the vertebral column stable and allow movement. When they’re injured, torn, or worn down, it can cause intense back and neck pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness. We use the Cox Technic among other methods to get you back on your feet and enjoying life.

Herniated Disc

Sometimes, a large strain such as lifting a heavy object causes a tear or rupture in a spinal disc’s external cartilage, allowing the soft interior to push through. This can cause chronic low back or neck pain, weakness, and additional pain in the morning, at night, and during sneezes. We primarily treat this with the Cox Technic.

Cox Technic

Also known as flexion distraction, this technique involves lying the patient down on a special table that allows the chiropractor to very slightly pull the spine apart. This relieves pressure on the spinal nerves and restores motion to the spinal joints. The Cox Technic effectively treats a long list of conditions including degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, osteoporosis, leg pain, and many others. Our goal is typically a 25-50% improvement in symptoms within the first 2-4 weeks of treatment.

Massage Therapy

We utilize massage therapy to treat a variety of conditions including back spasms, muscular tension, tension headaches, and sprains and strains. Unlike a relaxation massage, our massage therapy employs techniques to target different conditions and build structural integration. Using these methods, we decrease pain, increase range of motion, and improve posture.

Physical Therapy

All conditions which we treat receive some type or degree of physical therapy as part of the treatment plan. This can involve passive therapy including ice, electric stimulation, laser treatment, and gentle stretches, as well as active therapy consisting of more advanced exercises. Physical therapy reduces inflammation and pain and helps the patient regain overall function.

Rehabilitation focuses on the active component of physical therapy, where patients transition from stretches on a table to squats and weights. This improves biomechanics, balance, strength, endurance, and spinal stabilization, further restoring overall function.

Orthotics are shoe inserts designed to resolve bad posture and other issues. We prescribe them for many conditions including sciatica, stenosis, imbalance, and pain in the hip, knee, ankle, foot, or back. We also use them to improve athletes’ body efficiency. We create a mold of your foot, send it to a lab, and tell them what to make based on what you need, so each orthotic is custom-designed for both the shape of your foot and your condition.

When necessary, we use nutrition to supplement our other treatments. For example, we often prescribe a supplement and recommend a diet that promotes soft tissue healing and inflammation control when dealing with musculoskeletal conditions associated with inflammation.

Sports Medicine

We treat a variety of sports-related injuries including sprains, strains, contusions, shoulder and back injuries, and spinal stress fractures. The treatments we use for these may vary based on the patient’s age, but otherwise utilize many of the same techniques already described here.
