The New England Journal of Medicine claims the diabetes drug Avandia increases the heart attack rate by 43%!

British government figures recently released showed that 92 deaths have been linked to the statin drugs developed to lower cholesterol, drugs like Zocor, Lipitor and Crestor.

Studies show Avandia triples the death rate over placebo and also increased congestive heart failure and raised LDL (bad cholesterol.)

Studies have shown statin drugs to lower cholesterol are also associated with numerous side effects including kidney and liver damage, muscle pain and weakness and loss of memory.

Read this: Andrew Clark, a cardiologist at Castle Hill hospital, was the co-author of an international study of 417 heart failure patients that showed those with highest cholesterol levels actually lived longer.

Risk factors include smoking, high LDL, high blood pressure, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, diabetes, high C-reactive protein (has yours been checked?) and stress.

What do we do at our office?

1.  Lifestyle assessment to include diet, exercise, BMI, stress and toxic burden.

2. Blood work to include all the “standard tests;” however, we also look at homocysteine, CRP, insulin, Vitamin D, thyroid, B12, Folate and iron status.

3.  Develop a personalized diet, nutrition and exercise plan to decrease patients risk for chronic disease.

Many times when people improve their diet, clean out their systems, give their bodies the nutrients it needs to function properly the weight comes off, blood pressure goes down, blood sugar comes down to healthy levels and people don’t have a need for dangerous medications.

Be Well and Do Not Stop any of your medications without talking to your doctor.

Remember health is a journey and not a destination. What you do in the practice of health care will go miles and pay dividends over time.
